We are a full service architectural firm based in Toronto specializing in unique residential and commercial architectural expression. RLA believes that great architectural design results only from a collaborative process of discovery between the client and the architect.
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual, with extensive experience in modern residential design. The applicant must have a proven record of design, detailing and managerial skills. Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills are essential attributes for this role.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in residential wood frame construction
Demonstrated experience in technical design and detailing for construction documents
Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and applicable laws
Demonstrated knowledge of various building systems and construction methods
Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, budget management
Expert in AutoCAD (2D), Sketch-up modeling and hand sketching
Ability to handle multiple projects at once
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Project organization skills in all phases (schematic design through construction)
Experience in consultant coordination and direct interaction with contractors
Self-motivated and hardworking with commitment to meeting strict deadlines for self and organizing others
The individual we are seeking will be involved throughout all phases of our projects from schematic design through construction.
Assist Architect(s) in design process
Create 3D model simulations using Sketch up
Prepare technical architectural drawings using AutoCAD (2D)
Lead in assembling a library of typical details and provide technical oversight for team members with respect to drawing details
Prepare to submit documents for zoning, Committee of Adjustment, permit, etc.
Attend and represent clients at the Committee of Adjustment and OMB as required
Produce comprehensive working drawings for construction
Coordinate with trades and consultants throughout the project
