A two-storey addition and facade transformation began with the relocation of the kitchen to the heart of the house. A new family room, converted living room and oversized mudroom use this central kitchen space as a hub to respond to the family's living patterns. And while the kitchen is the house's heart, it's in the mudroom where the owners find their passion. With three boys playing year-round hockey, the mudroom created a badly needed space for this family obsessed with Canada's national game. Accessed from the garage, or side door, the combined mudroom and laundry facility offers benches and hooks, 'hockey lockers', a sorting table and laundry facilities each provided to keep the love of the game in the house- and its distinctive smells out.
