We interviewed several architects for our project. When Richard sat in our living room and opened his laptop to reveal a screen saver depicting Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water" we were sold!
From that moment on, a relationship was forged. Richard was able to extract ideas from our imaginations and put them to paper, to create the design we had dreamed about, but could never create on our own.
We wanted to create a space that fit our needs, was different from any other space in our neighbourhood, and yet harmonized with nature and our neighbours to ensure that we did not create discord. Using natural materials (stone, stucco and wood) went a long way toward "fitting in" rather than "standing out".
There was never a time when we felt rushed to make decisions that we weren't ready to make... Richard always allowed us the space we needed to ensure that we were making the right decisions for every aspect of our project.
Richard's attention to detail was amazing. It enabled us to not only create the space, but also to determine all of the interior design details, to the degree that we did not require any other assistance with interior decorating. He even helped in picking out paint colours!
We are looking forward to having Richard visit us at our cottage this summer to look at evolving that space.

Our house is simple, clean, uncluttered, efficient, and warm. It has a sophisticated feel but is friendly and easy to live in...
We absolutely felt in control of the process because Richard worked at putting us at the centre of the plan. I never felt that this was his design. I always felt that it was my own.
We haven't stopped recommending him from the day we first started working with him. The experience of working with him was the highlight of this building experience. He was truly a partner in this odyssey.

We love the home Richard designed for us. We love its blend of traditional features coupled with modern elements. He captured the right room sizes and room flow for our life style. The renovation and restoration of our century-old farmhouse in the middle of Toronto came with all sorts of structural unknowns. Over two years have passed since renovations ended and a week still doesn't pass where someone doesn't complement us on our house - and that's just from the outside! How many people can boast that their house looks older after the renovations were complete than before they were begun?
